The best cleanser for mature skin
Cleansing is the first step in your skincare routine, so a good cleansing product – and the right one – is essential! And mature skins can come in all guises. Just because we class ourselves as having mature skin, doesn’t mean we can’t have other skin issues as well.
A good cleanser should remove all make-up (and dirt, grime or SPF) that we may have on our skins, without stripping the natural oils that sit on the surface. We have an invisible layer on our skins called the acid mantle, that protects our skin from the invasion of bacteria, so we must ensure this is kept intact.
Our skin will naturally mature, as we age, however we can still have another skin type or conditions too; oily, sensitive, dehydrated or just have dull skin. We need to focus on nourishing and hydrating, but also address any other skin conditions we may be experiencing. So, here’s my round up of the best cleansers for mature skin

Best cleanser for dry & dehydrated skins
Evolve Gentle Cleansing Melt
This cleansing balm is so soothing, hydrating, moisturising, and does a great job of removing all make-up! As our skin matures, it naturally becomes drier. Any added moisture we can apply to our skin is beneficial. During the day, our skin can lose moisture and often end up, feeling tight and uncomfortable. The minute you apply this balm at the end of the day, your skin gives a sigh of relief and thanks!

Best cleanser for dry, dull or damaged skins
The Super Facialist Vitamin C Cleansing Oil
Vitamin C is an important ingredient in the fight against ageing. As we age our skin cells can become dull, due to the new skin cells taking longer to come to the skin’s surface. Vitamin C, not only brightens the skin but is an antioxidant, which means it protects the skin cells against damage. Along with this, Vitamin C also inhibits the production of melanin, so helps prevent darker pigmentation appearing. To add Vitamin C to your cleansing product, helps fight the fight against ageing. The oil feels so luxurious on your skin, again adding much needed moisture to dry skin.
Vitamin C is an essential ingredient for a mature skincare routine. Find out more HERE.
Best cleanser for sensitive skins
E’spa Hydrating Cleansing Milk
This light cleansing milk, contains marshamllow and chamomile to soothe sensitised or irritated skin. These ingredients will not only cleanse the skin, but calm the skin at the same time. Sweet almond oil nourishes so ideal for dry and mature skins too.
Best cleanser for oily skins
Neals Yard Purifying Palmarosa Facial Wash
For those who like a facial wash, this is ideal. Often a facial wash can be too harsh on a mature skin, however the addition of Palmarosa gives you great hydrating properties and prevents the natural oils being stripped from the skin. Palmarosa is also anti-inflammatory and balances sebum production, so this cleanser is great if your skin is slightly on the oily side, or you suffer with breakouts.
Best cleanser for all skin types
Ren Skincare Rose Centifolia Cleansing Gel
Rose is super soothing to the skin, plus has a multitude of anti-ageing benefits, including encouraging fresher, brighter skin cells to the surface. Aloe Vera is also included to soothe any irritation. The gel consistency of this cleanser, will bring welcome hydration to the skin, but for those who prefer to use water on their skin.
Best budget cleanser
The Body Shop Vitamin E Cleanser
A basic but effective cream cleanser, massaged in and removed with damp cotton pads. Moisturising , soothing, and protecting, Vitamin E makes the perfect budget buy cleanser, for mature skins.
